"A-Fib" Patients and the Apple Watch

With the use of digital transformation in Apple's line of watches, last year the Apple watch saved an 18 years-old life by detecting the rapid increase of her heartbeat. Apple has sponsored Stanford University to conduct research to eveluate the ability of the Apple watch to detect "atrial fibrillation" (a-fib) with a sample size of 400,000 people. However, this study is not accurate because it was not a reandomized controlled trial but insteasd it was a purely observational study to see if the Apple Watch’s heart pulse monitor can identify people who have a-fib. It is unsure to say what might have happened if the other 400,00 people werent using an Apple Watch.
